March 2022 Update: The World Keeps Turning

Work has been busy for the both of us. Kate's been working a lot of extra hours, some for the union and some just because they're short staffed. There was an incident I can't talk about much involving a patron that was a bit traumatic. There's still been some conversations about her future at the Center, but nothing concrete that I can mention.
Meanwhile, I've started having regular weekly calls with my boss, updating him on what's been going on, and that seems to be helping the situation. I do not have to go to their conference that's in May, thankfully. (I'm still very nervous about going anywhere with a lot of people.)
On the health-related front, Kate had another eye appointment and is doing well. She may not need surgery on the second eye. I tried donating blood, but my iron levels were super low, so I've started taking supplements. And Neko had her comprehensive exam. She's still 'feisty', but she needs some blood work that's connected to her age (she's 13). Her weight is back to normal, so that's good.
As for our household, we now have a mounted TV (yay – I no longer have to do the little dance to see health stats on my video games!), as well as a new internet wire and cover for it. We also used our tax refund money to not only pay someone to clean the house, but we bought a portable dishwasher as well. We're still adjusting to it. Finally, we re-organized our extras cabinet and updated the items in our fist aid kits. (Yes, plural. Kate has an addiction, I think. <g>)
In the world of fandom, I had a binge reader on my Quantum Leap stories on AO3. I wonder if there's going to be an uptick now that the reboot has been announced. I also got my artwork I won in Fandom Trumps Hate – you can see it here. Finally, we bought a Humble Bundle that was also a fundraiser for Ukraine that had a load of fun stuff I'm still unpacking.
Other than that, we dealt with Daylight Saving Time, I got my Real ID finally, and met up with a friend I hadn't seen in a couple of months.
Media I've Been Consuming
Lots of media consumed in March, which isn't a surprise.
In TV, I finished Dollface and really enjoyed it. Even wrote about it in my March newsletter. I also finished The Librarians. While nowhere near as good as Leverage, I liked it for the most part. I also finally got around to watching Looking for Alaska, which was good if depressing. Kate's a big fan of The Boys, so we watched the animated Diabolical. And our Marvel love of course meant starting Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac – in restraints), and with Disney Plus finally getting the Netflix shows, I finally started watching Daredevil. Finally, we bowed to fandom peer pressure and watched Our Flag Means Death on HBO. I used it for my first Fandom First Fridays video on my Facebook page, and may turn it into a podcast.
On the movie side, we finally watched Spielberg's West Side Story. While I liked it, I apparently can't watch any version without thinking of the Goodfeathers parody from Animaniacs. ;-) Speaking of animation, we also caught Turning Red, and it is my new favorite Pixar film. I felt 'called out' by it in the first five minutes, and it only got better. Kate, being a Ryan Reynolds fan, had us watch The Adam Project, which was really good. I finally found on YouTube a full copy of the old David Hasselhoff movie Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD that we have on VHS, so we downloaded and made sure it works so we can toss the tape. My love of Agatha Christie had us watching Death on the Nile, which was very pretty (that DANCE!). Finally, we were looking for something to watch but not have to pay attention to, so we started the Fast and the Furious franchise, watching the first two movies. They're ... interesting, to say the least.
While I haven't gone out to theatre in a while, we did go to the movie theatre to see the stage version of Anything Goes (Sutton Foster is AMAZING). We also paid for the filmed version of The Play What I Wrote, as I kept seeing clips on TikTok, but we gave up in 30 minutes as it just wasn't funny and no Hiddleston yet.
Summary
March had its ups and downs, with Kate working most of the time.
Hope you're all doing well. Would love to hear from you.
